Elisabeth's Bathroom

Elisabeth's tiny master bathroom measured about 6' x 8'. Built in the 1950's, it has a single vanity, toilet, shower, and small linen closet:

The shower is so small, Elisabeth cannot even wash her hair with both arms at the same time without hitting the wall!

Solution: We removed the fur down in the shower and over the vanity; removed the wall that is on the left side of the shower; changed the size of the shower by stealing from the linen closet; built a taller vanity with a centered sink; and changed all the surfaces:

The result: a beautiful updated master bath!

Lois' Bathroom - The Doors

This is the "before" view of the entry to the bathroom and closet area when standing in the bedroom:

This is during, here we have added 3 feet to each closet, removed the door and header into the bathroom part, removed the two closet doors and added art niches in the new space:

And this is after, with two antique doors mounted onto a track, these are the only doors in the master bath/closet area:

We used the other two antique doors for the entrance into the bedroom:

There is one more door, the shower door (it opens on the adjacent wall from before, I was able to accomplish this by replacing wall with glass door):

A reminder of this same space before the remodel:

Quite a change!

Lois' Bathroom - The Floor

Half of Lois' old bathroom was carpet, the other half was tile that needed updating. We are replacing all the flooring with a beautiful travertine plank cut tile:

The planks come in varying lengths and in widths of 4", 6" and 8". We ran the planks on the floor in a diagonal direction. Here is another picture:

Lois' Bathroom - The Vanities

The vanities in the bathroom had sinks positioned on the ends:

The tops were cultured marble and after 25 years, were showing their age, so we rebuilt the vanities, centered the sink and made them a couple inches taller. We then topped them with polished marble:

Lois' Bathroom

This is Lois' Bathroom:

After 25 years, Lois has decided to update her bathroom with new flooring, fixtures, cabinetry and counters. We will also be remodeling the closets that are outside the bathroom. First part is demo, so everything comes out:
