Lois' Bathroom - The Floor

Half of Lois' old bathroom was carpet, the other half was tile that needed updating. We are replacing all the flooring with a beautiful travertine plank cut tile:

The planks come in varying lengths and in widths of 4", 6" and 8". We ran the planks on the floor in a diagonal direction. Here is another picture:

Lois' Bathroom - The Vanities

The vanities in the bathroom had sinks positioned on the ends:

The tops were cultured marble and after 25 years, were showing their age, so we rebuilt the vanities, centered the sink and made them a couple inches taller. We then topped them with polished marble:

Lois' Bathroom- The Shower

Lois felt like her bathroom was small, but unfortunately, there no where from which to steal space. To help it feel larger, there are two things we are doing: (1) removing the fur down in the shower;and (2) making the wall and doorway between the toilet and the tub into a half wall. Here is the before:

After removing the fur down in the shower: (notice also there is a little bit of wall that we can use to make the shower a tad longer and on the opposite side we will replace part of the wall with glass for a larger feel.)

After removing the wall and doorway between the tub and toilet area:

We have also installed Hardie backerboard and sealed it with Red Gard. Hardie will not mold or burn, great product!
